Pratt L. Jenkins, Jr., 86, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital with his family by his side.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Burke County, GA on October 22, 1923, the son of the late Pratt Lester and Georgia Scarborough Jenkins. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably during World War II. Mr. Jenkins worked in roofing for many years but ultimately retired from Atlantic Towing where he had worked as a Seaman on the tugboat docks for 15 years.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his sons, Ira Ray Gilmore and Philip Wayne Gilmore. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Evelyn Lewis Jenkins; he was the loving father of Evelyn Faye Pevey Sam of Bryan County, Donald Lester Jenkins of Savannah, Richard L. Jenkins Barbara of Richmond Hill, Georgia Simmons Marshal of Jesup and Deborah J. Kieffer Bruce of Richmond Hill; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Merle Crapse and Clyde Boone and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with burial following at Hillcrest Abbey West.
